Pucón, is a city located in the Province of Cautín in the Araucanía Region, on one side of Villarrica Lake. Recognized as the most important lake resort in Chile, Pucón has in its surroundings a great variety of tourist attractions that make it a must for Chileans and foreigners throughout the year.
The city stands out for its Andean-Patagonian style architecture, in which the use of stone and wood prevails. On the other hand, the Mapuche culture is reflected in different areas of the city with samples of their traditions and customs. A few steps from the center, there is the beach resort Playa Grande de Pucón, which is suitable for swimming and where you can tour the lake by catamaran, kayak, water bikes, as well as doing nautical activities.
Its privileged location makes it an ideal destination for those seeking to connect with nature. Pucón is close to thermal centers (Huife, Peumayen and Trancura), beautiful national parks (Huerquehue National Park, Villarrica National Park), volcanoes (being the Villarrica Volcano the most popular for its high volcanic activity) and lakes (Villarrica Lake, Caburgua and Tinquilco) that stand out for their beaches of volcanic origin, with crystal clear and warm waters due to the black color of their sand.
In this area you can perform a large number of sports activities, in summer rafting, canopy, zip-lining, hiking, trekking, sport fishing, horseback riding, to name a few, while in winter-spring skiing and snowboarding are practiced in the centers located in the Villarrica Volcano.
"Entrance to the mountain range", "meeting place" or "road to the volcano", are the meanings attributed to the name of this city, which undoubtedly enchants those who have the pleasure of walking through its streets and delight in the beauty of its landscapes.
