Castro is a city located on the wonderful island of Chiloé, belonging to the Los Lagos Region.
The temperature in Castro is usually quite cold, with long and humid winters characterized by constant cloudiness, however summers are comfortable and warm, so it is recommended to visit this city between the months of December and February.
This city has many tourist attractions linked to the natural beauty of the island. Near the very center of the city is the Lillo Handicraft Fair and Farmer Market, where artisans display their various products for sale, such as clothing and accessories, wood carvings, liquors, among others. Also in the center of the city it is possible to visit the San Francisco de Castro Church, which after its restoration looks splendid and imposing in the Plaza de Armas.
A less popular but wonderful destination is Cole-Cole, a place that has a beautiful beach in the middle of the forest that will allow you to take the best photos.
You can get to Castro by land with different means of transport. In kupos.cl you can find different alternatives for your trip, whether you arrive by plane from other cities and need transfer services or private transport; or even if you travel on a reduced budget and prefer to share your trip using kupospool. If you want to travel by bus, you can also opt for companies such as Cruz del Sur, ETM or Queilen Bus; that have tours from Puerto Montt, Osorno, Santiago and more.
The churches of Castro
With more than 60 old and beautiful churches, Chiloé stands out for having a unique and charming architectural heritage.
In Castro, you have to visit the Church of Nercón and the Church of San Francisco, both were named by UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. Artisanal, rustic and classic… Art made temples. Shall we do this wonderful tour?
Navigate Castro
Castro and its beautiful coastline offer the best sunsets and panoramic views, so let's sail!
We assure you that in the sea you can find all the charm of this city. A 2-hour catamaran ride through the entire bay of Castro can cost between $ 12,000 and $ 15,000 pesos per person, during the trip you will see nature, marine fauna and stilt houses. Here is our recommendation: The best boat trip in all of Castro!
Castro Market
This market has the classic palafito restaurants and traditional food of the region, but the most beautiful thing here is the huge variety of native crafts.
Creations in wood and totally natural wool are the protagonists of this market. In these corridors full of stories you will find the perfect memory.
The gastronomy of Castro
Like any tourist place that receives hundreds of tourists a year, Castro is full of gastronomic options for all tastes and budgets.
