Yungay is a city located in the Diguillín Province of the Ñuble Region. Regarding the climate, Yungay has a local steppe climate with little rainfall during the year, with an average temperature of 16 ° C.
This city was founded by General Fernando Baquedano in 1842, who named it Yungay in honor of the Battle of Yungay, a war that took place in Peru in 1839 and where Chile won the victory over the Peruvian-Bolivian Confederation.
