Ushuaia is a city that belongs to the Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands Province of Argentina. The city is located on the coasts of the Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego that face the Bay of Ushuaia in the Beagle Channel, and is surrounded by the Martial mountain range. Ushuaia can be accessed by land through the Argentine national route number 3, which is the only land communication route with the southern city. It can also be accessed by sea arriving at the Port of Ushuaia, the second most important port in the country after Buenos Aires, where naval transport ships, commercial, tourist and scientific ships arrive. This port receives more than 400 tourist cruises a year, these normally go to the Malvinas Islands and Antarctica. The Ushuaia Malvinas Argentinas International Airport also receives commercial and private flights, being an important access point to the city.
Ushuaia has a tundra climate, characterized by winters that are not too cold, with an average temperature in the coldest month slightly above 1ºC, and by quite cool summers that do not exceed 23 ° C. The absolute temperature records are 29 ° C and -25 ° C. It should be noted that Ushuaia is the second southernmost city in the world after Puerto Williams.
This territory is rich in water resources, with rivers and lakes that feed on local rains and the melting of ice and snow. The river that stands out the most is the Pipo River, which has its sources in the Tierra del Fuego National Park and flows into the Golondrina Bay. As for lakes we can name the Laguna del Diablo, which is small and surrounded by forest, where you can practice ice skating during winter, the rest of the lakes are located in the surroundings of the city. One of the most important attractions of Ushuaia are the glaciers, the closest are the Martial, and the Vinciguerra.
In addition to being a destination with multiple natural landscapes to enjoy, Ushuaia also offers traditional entertainment, among the places that most often attract the attention of tourists are the museums of Ushuaia. The Maritime and Presidio Museum of Ushuaia was founded in 1995 and declared a Historical Monument in 1997, formerly in this building the most dangerous criminals in the region were held, but since it became a museum they exhibit collections that illustrate the maritime history of the region, from the discovery of the Strait of Magellan to the life and customs of the Yámana people. The Museum of the End of the World, is another important museum and is located in the building where a bank worked during the years 1915 and 1978, later the museum was inaugurated that currently preserves a library of works on the southern region.
It should be noted that currently Ushuaia offers all kinds of tourist services, such as accommodation, restaurants, entertainment and tourist tours throughout the bay.
