Angol is the capital of Malleco Province, in the Araucanía Region, located at the foot of the Nahuelbuta mountain range and crossed by the Vergara river.
It is said that Angol has been built and rebuilt seven times, because due to its geographical position there were many incursions that passed through Angol, as well as the resistance to the conquest. However, the growth of the city can be traced back to 1876, when the railway from Santiago arrived in Angol. The connection with the rest of the country allowed the foundations to be laid for the urbanization in Angol.
Among the most important places in Angol are the Vergara Bridge, which connects the entire population with the city center; and the Paso Cebra, which is a crosswalk with a Mapuche theme that was painted at the intersection with the Municipality of Angol. The painting is now a characteristic symbol of the city. The Dillman Bullock Historical Museum also stands out, which is located inside the park of the El Vergel ranch. This museum was founded in 1975, and has exhibits in areas such as biology, natural history, and archeology. In them you can see collections of funeral urns and archeology prior to the Mapuche period. To this are added samples of birds, bird eggs, mollusks, mammals, insects, reptiles, minerals, ceramics and volcanic material.
Angol is located 142 km from Temuco and 569 km from Santiago, and you can reach this city through the Panamerican highway number 5. Its main access is in Huequén, a town that is at the entrance, and with kupos.cl you can get to Angol by bus with the lines EME Bus, Pullman Bus, Buses Ríos and others.

Canteras de Deuco
Canteras de Deuco it’s 8 km away from Angol. This historic place was originally built to be a quarry where stones were extracted for the construction of a railway, whose section would go from Angol to Traiguén; but due to an error in the use of dynamite, an underground layer was discovered that flooded the place, which gave rise to a lagoon.
Currently the Canteras de Deuco are a tourist center where various water sports are practiced such as canopy, boat rides and water bikes. The tourist center also offers horseback riding, cabins for lodging and rental of its facilities for special events.
