Viña del Mar is located in the Valparaíso Region, being one of the most visited destinations by tourists throughout the year. Its proximity to Santiago, only 90 minutes apart by vehicle, favors the tourism of both Chileans and foreigners, who visit this area mainly in summer, highlighting the presence of Argentines on the city's beaches.
The garden city, as it is known for being one of the cities with the largest green areas in the country, has extensive gardens on its coast and pays special attention to the preservation of native species in its Botanical Garden, which has been a tool to educate the population about the protection of the national flora and the importance of having a green lung in the city.
Its character as a spa town has been created to take advantage of public spaces, combining them with private spaces in harmony and allowing that in the 8 km that its coastline it is possible to develop different sports and find a great gastronomic and entertainment offer.
One of its main venues is its Municipal Games Casino, which was inaugurated in 1929, being the first of its kind in the country, with large gardens inside and an area of 20,000 m2, where in addition to the room of games, there is an auditorium, rooms for conferences and seminars, developing a large number of cultural activities that have allowed expanding the offer of shows in the city. Also within its facilities is the "Hotel del Mar", which has five stars.
Among its beaches, the Reñaca beach and its sectors 1 to 5 stand out, in which a large number of visitors congregate to enjoy the waters of the Pacific Ocean, despite the fact that they are not considered suitable for bathing. making it possible to find a large number of surfers in the place. In addition, this sector stands out for its nightlife, being possible to find pubs and discotheques on the shore of the bay which are ready to welcome visitors from early in the afternoon.
On the other hand, the sports beach stands out for its sports activity, in which the city council, under "La Casa del Deporte", organizes different activities for young and old. It has courts for the practice of different sports such as beach volleyball and soccer, an area arranged as a slack park for slackline practice and an amphitheater for the practice of Zumba, aerobics, gymnastics, among others.
A tourist spot in the city is the Flower Clock, located at the foot of Cerro Castillo, a place marked by its tradition and history. It was built when the city was named the venue for the 1962 World Cup, and since then it has become the postcard of the city.
Another point of attention is the Sausalito Lagoon, which, although it was built in order to provide water to vineyards in the region, is currently a point dedicated to sports and as a place of recreation for its visitors. In its surroundings it is possible to find a skatepark and the Sausalito stadium of the Viñamarino complex, Everton.
In the cultural sphere, Viña del Mar stands out for being a platform that combines culture and art, developing seasons of concerts and musical contests in the Municipal Theater of the city, which has the capacity to receive 1,100 people.
During the month of February the city comes to a standstill around the celebration of one of the most important festivals in South America, the Viña del Mar International Song Festival, which takes place in the Quinta Vergara amphitheater, receiving 15,000 viewers each year, being broadcast through radio and television. Although the main idea of the contest has been to promote the popular and folk music of the region, the attention generated by the list of artists who are invited to the event is increasing.
The city's temperate Mediterranean climate characteristic, with winter rains and a prolonged dry season, allow tourism in the region to continue throughout the year, with a pleasant climate that fluctuates between 13ºC and 25ºC during the summer.

The beaches of Viña
The beaches in Viña are at your disposal and it is very easy to get there. Caleta Abarca is the most central of all the beaches, it is right in front of the flower clock. The beach is beautiful and with intense waves. You can also take a bus and in a few minutes be in Playa Caleta Portales, where you will find endless culinary proposals. And that's how you have a relaxed beach day without going too far.
Sausalito Park
A different activity in Viña! Here not everything is about the beach, there is also beautiful vegetation and other places of recreation, Sausalito Park is one of them.
The main attraction of the park is the Sausalito Lagoon, an artificial but very beautiful lagoon. You can also go boating or have lunch in the picnic area. You can reach the lagoon on foot, it is about 10 blocks from Mall Marina and then you must climb a hill, so bring water and sunscreen.
Castles in Viña

Formerly, castle building started out as a whim, but it turned into a kind of competition between the wealthiest families in Viña.
