Tacna is the capital city of the Department of San Pedro de Tacna of Peru. It is located in the southern border area of Peru, specifically on the banks of the Caplina river, in the middle of the Tacna desert, limiting to the north with Moquegua, to the northwest with Puno, to the east with Bolivia, to the south with Chile and to the west with the Pacific Ocean. This city communicates with the rest of the world by land through the South Panamerican Highway, integrating the city into the national and international highway system. In the same way, you can enter by air through the Coronel FAP International Airport.
It should be noted that Tacna owns the Tacna-Arica Railroad, the station is currently in excellent operation and communicates the two countries (Chile and Peru) quickly and efficiently. The railway station has been under Peruvian administration since 1995, since then it has been administered by the Regional Government of Tacna, this after a long historical process where Chile and Peru disputed said administration. In terms of climate, Tacna has a temperate subtropical and desert environment, where sand storms usually occur, during summer it has temperatures of approximately 32 ° C, while in winter it ranges between 8 ° C and 5 ° C.
Historically, Tacna was involved in the military conflicts between Peru and Chile that took place during and after the War of the Pacific (1879-1884), coming under Chilean rule until 1929. Once it was incorporated back into the Peruvian State, Tacna has stood out for to be a proudly patriotic population, a feeling that is manifested through the "Week of Tacna", a holiday to celebrate the reincorporation of Tacna to Peru. Currently the economic activity of Tacna is concentrated in the production of olives, corn, potatoes, wheat, oregano and alfalfa. Likewise, livestock, sheep, artisanal and fishing stand out. The Tacna Free Zone also contributes to the economic activity of the city through the export, marketing and distribution centers.
The border city also has tourist attractions, such as the historic center that preserves buildings from the Peruvian colonial period, the Pila Ornamental, the Parabolic Arch, the Cathedral Church of Tacna, the Railway Museum and the Alto de la Alianza where the Battle of Tacna took place, and where there is a monument to the soldiers who fought in the War of the Pacific. 20 minutes from the city center you can visit Tarata, a place that offers beautiful landscapes, a fabulous set of stepped terraces built on the mountainside, in addition to allowing an approach to the ancient Peruvian culture.
Also, you can do the coastal tour, which was developed at the end of the 20th century, carried out under the archaeological supervision of local academics from Tacna. This tour includes the Quebrada de Burros, the Inca Trail along the coast, the Solar Clock, Punta San Pablo, Puerto Grau, Ite's Wetlands and the petroglyphs of Punta Picata. In Tacna you can see the Anaco de Camilaca, which is a pre-Hispanic costume declared as Cultural Heritage of the Nation in 2009.

Cara Negra
The best restaurant in Tacna! This famous restaurant is located in Rancho San Antonio, and from here you cannot leave without trying the famous lamb burger, which is the specialty of the house. It is 100% recommended! In addition, they have the Tacna Sour which is a normal Pisco Sour, but with apricot liqueur that tastes exquisite
