Pitrufquén is a city belonging to the Province of Cautín in the Araucanía Region.
The origin of its name comes from the word Mapudungun which means place of ashes. This city has a multicultural population, abundant in Mapuche culture and European descendants who arrived in La Araucanía at the beginning of the 20th century.
