ABOUT Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales

Chile it’s a country known for its diverse landscapes, natural riches, glaciers, volcanoes and endemic flora and fauna. In this way the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park is a manifestation of the wonderful natural diversity that  configures the southernmost country in the world.

From 1962 Chile began the establishment of specific regions for flora and fauna conservation, and that’s when the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park came to life, the first national park in the history of Chile.

The name of this park honors Vicente Pérez Rosales, a Chilean man from the XIX century that stays in history for his outstanding achievements as writer, miner, statistician and traveler. This famous character of Chilean history was the precursor of the colonization of the territory that today makes the Llanquihue Province in Los Lagos Region.

With more than 200.000 hectares, the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park has several types of woods and environments that attract the attention of thousands of tourists throughout the year. Of all its peculiarities, it is amazing that through it you can ascend to the summit of the Osorno volcano and access 15 other trails.

Currently the entrance to the park has a general cost of $ 1,500 Chilean pesos per adult, while access is free for children under 12 and the elderly. But if you want to camp the prices for the camping area range from $8000 Chilean Pesos for 5 persons, and $12000 Chilean pesos for groups between 6 and 10 persons. Until 2019 the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park had two camping areas known as Playa Petrohué and Camping Puerto Oscuro. But in this park there are options for everyone, and you can also access all types of accommodations as shelters or hotels, including: Refugio Club Los Pumas, Refugio Club de Teski, Hotel Peulla, Hostería Petrohué.

What you will most want to see about this park is how the hugging forest and the immense vegetation of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park completely cover the Lake “Todos los Santos”, to the point of becoming itself into a nature's sanctuary. From there you can also visit hydric resources and iconic sites such as: Petrohué River, the Green Lagoon, Los Novios waterfall, Margarita Lagoon, Callao’s hot springs and Osorno volcano.

The natural majesty of the park it’s its main attraction, however, it also has numerous activities to do which makes it more entertaining. Between all the activities the ones that stand out are: trekking, fishing, swimming, skiing, mountaineering, hiking and the development of environmental education.
