Matanzas is a town of the commune of Navidad, located in the Cardenal Caro province in the O'Higgins Region. It is located about 161 km away from Santiago.
Matanzas is characterized by having a Mediterranean climate, with concentrated rainfall during the months of June, July and August. Normally during the day the temperature is warm and tends to drop during the night. The coldest month of the year is July, when temperatures can drop to 8 °C, while the hottest would be between January and March with maximum temperatures of 23 °C.
