Iquique is a coastal city located in the Tarapacá Region, 1840 kilometers away from Santiago. The oasis of Matilla and Pica 120 kilometers from Iquique, in the interior of Pica is the Salar de Huasco, an area where dinosaur footprints dating back thousands of years are found. There are also curative hot springs found in Mamiña, an ancient town that is located 130 kilometers away from Iquique.
