On the banks of the Isluga River, is the town of Colchane. It is the town with the largest number of inhabitants within the commune. Being a border crossing with Bolivia, it has customs, border control, Chilean police checkpoint, SAG offices, municipality, schools, residences and commerce. Between the border controls of Chile and Bolivia, a border fair is held on Saturday mornings, every 15 days.
This town emerges in the middle of a world of colorful and surprising landscapes. But, despite the adverse conditions, it is an area full of life and colors, where wetlands, meadows, lagoons, salt flats, streams and an abundant fauna predominate.
